The AmeriCorps VISTA program at Literacy KC addresses low literacy through traditional channels, as well as non-traditional channels that address health literacy, financial literacy, and digital literacy. The VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) members and organizations that participate in the program take a holistic, collaborative approach to building each organization’s capacity to serve their clients and address poverty in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
This VISTA program provides passionate individuals the opportunity to spend one year helping organizations serve their community and eradicate poverty in the US. Members develop professionally and personally while gaining valuable experience to take with them at the end of their year of service. For more information about becoming a Literacy KC VISTA sub-site or a VISTA member, email Veronika Fournier, VISTA Program Coordinator at email@example.com.
