Literacy KC Partners with Brain Group to Establish Nonprofit Hub at The Offices at Park 39

KANSAS CITY, MO (May 1, 2025)– Brain Group, Kansas City’s leading experts in transforming underutilized real estate, has partnered with Literacy KC to establish a dynamic nonprofit hub at The Offices at Park 39, located in the renovated former Westport Middle School. Literacy KC, whose mission is to advance literacy in Kansas City through direct services, advocacy, and collaboration, will serve as the anchor tenant, joining 18 other nonprofit organizations that already make their home in this innovative community space.

By centralizing resources and fostering collaboration, the nonprofit hub at Park 39 aims to address Kansas City’s most pressing challenges, from adult education and workforce development to social services accessibility. This forward-thinking initiative will provide a streamlined, supportive environment where nonprofit organizations can work together to empower individuals and strengthen the community.

“We are thrilled to welcome Literacy KC to The Offices at Park 39,” said Andrew Brain, Principal at Brain Group. “Our goal has always been to bring together innovative companies and organizations that contribute to the vitality of Midtown.  Literacy KC’s mission to empower individuals through literacy education is a perfect fit for the collaborative and community-focused environment we are cultivating.”

Gillian Helm, CEO of Literacy KC, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the transformative potential of the partnership. “This innovative community hub will enhance the experience for our adult learners by simplifying access to essential services and offering flexible learning opportunities. By equipping individuals with in-demand skills and credentials, we are not only addressing workforce shortages but also driving economic growth and social progress in Kansas City.”

Audrey Navarro of Clemons Real Estate represented Literacy KC and was integral in facilitating this collaboration. The nonprofit hub at Park 39 is designed to maximize efficiency for both learners and nonprofit tenants, fostering an environment that promotes collaboration, accessibility, and meaningful change. Through this partnership, Brain Group and Literacy KC are setting a new standard for community-driven solutions to systemic challenges.

“We’re excited about what this project means for the nonprofit community and for our current and future for-profit business tenants as well,” Brain said. “They all have an important role to play in this ecosystem and will make each other better when they work alongside each other.”
