Education assistance is available to help cover costs leading to a certificate/degree or to achieve a skill level, such as art or vocational school.
Career assistance provides funds to aid as needed with costs directly related to the applicant’s career training or needs. These may include but are not limited to uniforms, specific tools or other supplies needed to be successful in applicant’s career path.
GRANT RENEWALS
Grants will ordinarily be awarded for a one-year or two-year period but may be for a shorter or longer period as stated on application. Funds may be renewable for a period appropriate to the purposes of the Fund under which the award is established as determined by the Fund Advisory Committee. Otherwise, the Literacy KC Advisory Committee may consider renewing a grant on a case-by-case basis according to the status of the grantee’s project and the purposes of the grant.
- Education Assistance: Grantees must adhere to all rules and regulations related to previous funding, maintain a 2.5 GPA (if attending an institution which maintains such measurements) and maintain required attendance policies as stated by the institution.
- Career Assistance: Grantees will need to show how the previous grant had a positive impact on their career/job and show significant reason for the grant renewal. Grants may cover a recurring expense for which the applicant has previously received funding or a new expense/need.
