Chloe Seim

Originally from Salina, Kansas, Chloe received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art History with a minor in English from the University of Kansas. She later received her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where she interned for New Letters, an international, award-winning literary magazine. She also served as Production Intern for Fiction/Non/Fiction Podcast, where she pitched, booked, wrote, and edited an episode on the language of abuse in politics featuring novelist Rene Denfeld and memoirist Megan Phelps-Roper. Her short fiction has been featured in many national and international literary magazines, including The North American Review, Potomac Review, Hobart, Timothy McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, and more. She won the 2021 Anton Chekov Award from LitMag and a version of her collection, Churn, placed as a finalist in the 2020 St. Lawrence Book Award and 2021 Hudson Prize. She edits the literary journal, Snarl.

As Development Specialist, Chloe writes, submits, and reports on grant applications for Literacy KC, while also serving as a member of the Development team. She is delighted to be a part of Literacy KC, and looks forward to applying her writing skills to help Literacy KC continue providing free adult education and literacy programs in Kansas City.
