Volunteer Opportunities

1. TUTORING- Tutor in our instructor-led Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes throughout Kansas City. Tutors provide direct support to students during class-time. Activities range from assisting students with their online learning programs to helping during reading, writing, and conversation practice. Tutors may also expect to offer some emotional support beyond curriculum, such as listening to students’ stories and offering encouragement as students work toward their goals and build interpersonal and life skills. Commitment: 2 hours, twice a week, for an entire term (36 weeks). Training: 2 hours.

2. PROGRAM SUPPORT- Volunteer with our programs that aim to build additional foundational literacy skills, including our Let’s Read family reading program and Digital classes. Volunteers assist instructors and participants with program activities. Commitment: 1 hour, once a week, on a flexible basis. Training: 1 hour.

3. EVENT VOLUNTEERING & OTHER OPPORTUNITIES- Help out at events and on a flexible basis as special volunteer needs arise.
